The original idea was to use an electret microphone and earpiece assembly readily available for mobile phones. I later discovered a cheap headset with an ideal microphone, but the rest of the assembly was rather flimsy. With VHF operation in mind the unit is equipped with a 1750 Hz tome-burst for repeater operation. A volume control was added to reduce vehicle noise pick-up. Details are provided for connection to a number of radios.
