Hermes-Lite 2 SDR Project

Hermes-Lite 2 SDR Transceiver

The Hermes- Lite 2 comes as two ready made pcbs incorporating a SDR Transceiver and a low pass filter unit. A 5 Watt PA is incorporated into the design.

This unit is operated using Thetis 64 bit software originally developed for the Anan Transceiver

The computer demands are somewhat higher than expected and using a less capable PC resulted in relay chattering, spurious signals at a low leve and a sticky mouse.

The PC used is an Intel NUC10 miniature PC using a Core I3 processor. It needs a benchmark of at least 3000 to operate satisfactorily.

Initial tests were conducted using a 40 Watt Chinese amplifier designed for use with a FT817.

With a 140 Watt homebrew amplifier built in the 90s, this was tried and produces 90 Watts output with  5 Watts drive. It was tried on AM and produced a good 30Watt AM signal

IN 1991 I purchased a 300 Watt amplifier kit which has sat in the draw for almost 30 years; it is now under construction to be used with the Hermes-Lite2.
