Single Band Miniature HF SSB Transceiver
This transceiver was designed to see how small a single band transceiver could be made using a single pcb. The pcb was designed to fit into a RAF pencil box. Output is at least 10 watts. The basis of the device is a Plessey AM Receiver IC used as a SSB TX/RX generator.
The first version was built to cover 80 metres and used a 455 KHz IF with the same ceramic filter that later appeared in the FT817. Good performance was achieved however; the receive second channel was not particularly good. The second version was redesigned to cover 160 metres giving rise to much better single channel performance. A number of kits were sold for this transceiver.
